TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe police are investigating a threatening note found on a middle school campus Tuesday morning.

At approximately 6:45 a.m., police received a call from staff at Fees College Preparatory Middle School advising that a teacher had found an anonymous note that made threats of violence to the school and teachers.

Police spokeswoman Molly Enright said the specific contents of the note are not being made public as the investigation remains open and very active.

Police officers quickly responded to the school near Guadalupe Road and McClintock Drive and determined that at that point, there was no immediate threat on the campus.

Police are continuing to work to locate and question the writer of the note, while also assuring that the school remains safe and secure.

Enright said officers will be visible on and around the campus throughout the day. The school district will be notifying parents of the incident.

Police ask that parents talk with children at an age-appropriate level about this incident.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Tempe police at 480-350-8311.
