PHOENIX -- Steak 44 opens Saturday in the old historic Cork 'N Cleaver spot at 44th Street and Camelback Road.

Fire destroyed the building years ago and after a 100 percent renovation, a purchase by the Mastro family - the brand new Steak 44 is ready to open its doors on Saturday, April 5.

Steak 44 has been called the Valley's "most anticipated steakhouse of the year."

Jeffrey Mastro, Michael Mastro, Dennis Mastro and Scott Troilo, the owners of the popular Dominick's Steakhouse at the Scottsdale Quarter, are bringing their tantalizing steaks and succulent seafood to the old Phoenix landmark north of Camelback Road on 44th Street.

The 8,421-square foot space that once housed Cork 'N Cleaver was transformed into a new upscale urban oasis while still preserving the building's charm. The landmark boasts a brand new bar, glass expo kitchen, intimate dining suites and many dining rooms featuring unique architectural details.

"Guests will enjoy the same great steaks and seafood we serve at Dominick's, but at Steak 44 you'll see a few more fun additions to the menu, as well as a variety of portion sizes for everything we serve," said Jeffrey Mastro, partner in Steak 44 and Dominick's Steakhouse.

With the help of Executive Chef Geoff Baumberger, 3TV's Tess Rafols gave us a look inside the new restaurant and even tasted some of his favorite menu items.

Steak 44 will be open daily from 5 p.m. to midnight for dinner service. with the bar open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.
