PHOENIX -- Anyone who has driven down the I-17 in Phoenix has probably noticed the giant Shamrock Farms facility just off the freeway.

On Thursday's Good Morning Arizona, Heidi Goita gave us a behind-the-scenes look at Shamrock Farms. The facility is 95,000 square feet, the size of two football fields. It's maintained at 34 degrees Fahrenheit year-round.

The company stores approximately 250k gallons of milk, which is shipped out all over Arizona. It is stored fewer than two days, then shipped out on some 90 trucks.

June is Dairy Month, and milk is a much-needed item at Valley food banks.

So, Arizona Milk Producers, Shamrock Farms and Circle K are teaming up with the Arizona Diamondbacks to help kick off the "Daily Dose of Dairy" celebration, and help get milk to those in need.

At the June 1 Diamondbacks game, the D-backs will have the chance to earn gallons of milk for the Great American Milk Drive through scored hits, runs and home runs.

"For every hit or run scored by the D-backs, Shamrock Farms and Circle K will donate gallons of milk to the Great American Milk Drive," says Roxy Helman of the Arizona Milk Producers. "We could potentially donate up to 1,000 gallons of milk throughout the game, which is pretty awesome."

Families can also help support The Great American Milk Drive by visiting www.milklife.com/give or by texting "Milk" to 27722, to donate much-needed milk for as little as $5.00. By entering your zip code online, you can ensure that the milk is delivered to a local Feeding America food bank in your community.
