PHOENIX -- “Hi Joshua, I'm Dean a posse member with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. We're just doing an address check,” said a posse member.
Deputies and volunteer posse members are making sure level two and level three sex offenders are following the law.
“Ensure that the people who ware convicted with sex violations are living at the residence that they tell the courts and not moving,” said Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
According to the sheriff, there are 81 of these more serious, prone to do it again, sex offenders throughout the county.
“If they did move we're going to launch an investigation with our sex crimes unit and if they violate the law, which is a serious offense, class four felony, we'll take proper action,” said Arpaio.
The sheriff said these types of address checks aren’t rare, he said it’s his policy to do them every six months.
