Several seriously injured in west Phoenix crash; child thrown 30 feet

PHOENIX – Several people were injured in a two-car wreck at 71st Avenue and Thomas Road in Phoenix Wednesday afternoon.

Phoenix Fire Department personnel responded to the scene at about 4 p.m. A fire captain described it as absolute chaos.

A man in his 20s had to be extricated from one of the vehicles.

Three adults and three children were seriously injured and transported to trauma centers.

One of the children, a boy 10 to 12 years old, was thrown 30 to 40 feet into a yard. Firefighters aid he was in extremely critical condition.

Investigators were trying to determine who was at fault.
