Several arrested following raid on Phoenix store
PHOENIX -- Several people were arrested Thursday night after police conducted a raid at a convenience store near 19th Avenue and Camelback Road.
Police said Eddie’s Quick Stop was a known location for drugs and prostitution, along with other violent crimes.
People who live in the area say they’re not surprised by the arrests, with one woman telling 3TV's Karen Brown that the store often smelled like marijuana.
“I think they have been casing this place for a while because every night I am down here and I see police across the street,” Grant Chaney said.
Thursday night’s sweep was the result of a yearlong investigation by several agencies, including the Gang Task Force and the FBI.
Police said the raid was connected to last week’s huge anti-gang sweep, during which they received more information that led them to Eddie’s Quick Stop.
