NEAR TONOPAH, Ariz. -- One person was injured when he ran his semi truck into the back of another rig.

It happened shortly before sunrise Monday morning in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near milepost 98, which is the exit for Wintersburg Road leading to the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.

Video from the scene showed skid marks running all the way across the road. The semi, the front of its cab smashed in, came to rest in the median. The driver managed to stop the truck before it veered into oncoming traffic.

Investigators believe the driver lost control after rear-ending another semi. The driver suffered minor injuries. A heavy wrecker was brought in to tow the damaged semi from the scene.

The rig that was hit continued east without stopping.

Tonopah is about 50 minutes west of Phoenix.
