MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. -- A second suspect in a New Mexico homicide has been arrested by Maricopa County Sheriff deputies.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Vincent Montoya, 28, turned himself in to deputies on Thursday. Montoya’s arrest came less than 24 hours after deputies arrested another suspect at a Motel 6 on 23rd Avenue and Bell Road.
Deputies responded to the Motel 6 on Wednesday after receiving a tip that the suspects might be hiding out there. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded to the scene and found suspect Sarah Martinez, 26, inside one of the rooms.
“I am proud of the great work by my deputies in taking these dangerous suspects off the streets,” said Sheriff Arpaio.
Both Montoya and Martinez are awaiting extradition back to New Mexico. Authorities are still looking for another suspect in the case.
