PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Police need your help to find two men wanted in connection with drug deal that went bad, ending with one man dead and second in the hospital.
It happened Thursday, Dec. 20 in a neighborhood along 43rd Avenue south of Thomas Road.
David Lopez Banuelos, 31, was killed when a drug buy ended in gunfire.
According to Sgt. Steve Martos of the Phoenix Police Department, one of the suspects in the deadly shooting, Julio Gonzalez Valenzuela (above right), drove a second victim to a local hospital. Valenzuela fled after dropping off that unidentified person.
Surveillance video from the hospital showed that Valenzuela, 37, was driving a 2003 black Dodge truck with the Arizona license plate 51FB40. That truck has two Air Jordan stickers on its back window. (Click image for larger view.)
Detectives believe the second suspect, Ramiro Ortega (above left), was also wounded in the shooting.
Martos said Ortega, 27, drives a 2004 Nissan 350Z with pink wheels and the Arizona license plate OFBP33.
While no details about the drug deal and subsequent gun battle were immediately available, Clark says both Valenzuela and Ortega could be charged with first-degree murder under the felony murder rule.
"Under the felony murder rule, all participants of a felony can be charged with murder if a homicide occurs," reads Lawyers.com. "This is true even if a participant isn't directly responsible for the death."
