SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. ---  After heavy monsoon rains Tuesday afternoon, a group of teenagers turned dirty floodwater into a surf park in Scottsdale.

A normally dry drainage basin off Scottsdale Road in the McCormick Ranch area filled with water several feet deep.

The teens hooked rope to an SUV, and took turns pulling each other through the water on surf boards.

"It's sludge, and smells awful, but it's worth it," Will Whittington told 3TV.

"I don't worry much about what's in the water.  I swallowed a little," Wyatt McCreary said.

They had to modify their skill set, since they're used to surfing in California.
