PHOENIX -- A truck rolled over on westbound Interstate 10 near the airport Monday morning, forcing the closure of the freeway to East Valley commuters.

It happened at about 6 a.m. at Buckeye Road just past the Interstate 17 split. The freeway was reopened shortly after 9 a.m.

It's not clear what the truck was carrying, but video from the scene showed debris all over the roadway.

The Department of Public Safety shut down the freeway, forcing traffic off at Interstate 17 north. A single lane of traffic -- those drivers already past the closure point -- was sneaking by the scene on the shoulder on the left side of the HOV lane.

Drivers from the East Valley were being encouraged to choose alternate routes, including Loop 202 and SR 143.

There is no word on what caused the truck to roll. There also is no word on the condition of the driver.
