PHOENIX -- Record heat is in the forecast for Arizona. An unseasonably strong ridge of high pressure is keeping us very dry and very warm this week.
Flagstaff set a new record of 62 degrees on Wednesday, and even warmer weather in the mid 60s is in the forecast for the next few days.
In the Valley, look for a high of about 84 degrees this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. The average high for today's date is just 70 degrees, but today won't be a record-breaker.
Tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday are all expected to be record-breaking days with highs near 86 degrees tomorrow, 89 Saturday and 85 on Sunday.
Mostly sunny skies and light winds are expected.
High pressure finally retreats a bit early next week and our heat subsides a bit, but we'll still be above normal in the low 80s with no rain in sight.
