PHOENIX (AP) -- A Surprise mother who left her young daughters alone in a car while she went to a party in Tempe has been sentenced to two years of probation.
Twenty-five-year-old Vanessa Tsinajinnie received that sentence Wednesday in Maricopa County Superior Court after she agreed to plead guilty to one count of child abuse. A second child abuse count was dropped as part of a plea deal.
Tempe police say that on May 16, Tsinajinnie left her 2- and 4-year-old daughters in the car while she went to a party.
Soon after, the girls were found walking alone and crying near a busy intersection. One of them was barefoot.
Police later found Tsinajinnie in an apartment complex parking lot looking for the girls.
