PRESCOTT, Ariz. – A 64-year-old Prescott man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Senator Highway Saturday afternoon.
Prescott police believe Vaughn Stratton had difficulty making a turn and lost control of the motorcycle in the area of Senator Highway and Summit Point.
Stratton was thrown from his Harley Davidson motorcycle and his body struck a large boulder, according to police.
Officers and medical personnel attempted life-saving efforts at the scene and during transport to Yavapai Regional Medical Center West, however, he was pronounced dead by emergency room staff.
Police said Stratton was wearing a half helmet, but it did not stay on his head during the crash.
Investigators believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the collision, but tests will be conducted to determine if Stratton was impaired at the time of the crash.
