PHOENIX -- At Shady's on Indian School Road, they mix a mean Moscow Mule. And with a strong showing at happy hour, Shady's expects a good crowd throughout this holiday weekend, a crowd that staff plan to take care of.

"If they've had a little much, we have a number of taxi companies that do specials or discounted rides for us," said bartender J.K Grenc.

But if patrons don't take the cab, they could take a squad car. Some 100 extra officers from across the East Valley are patrolling to find drivers under the influence.

"The number of officers will be in addition to the normal number of officers Phoenix has in the streets," said Lt. Brian Lee with Phoenix Police.

The first arrest came from Mesa. He's likely one of dozens that will get picked up on the road tonight.

From Thanksgiving Day through December 29th, there have been 3,153 DUI arrests statewide, and that's under the influence of alcohol, pills or any other drugs.
