PHOENIX -- A man was trapped inside his vehicle after power lines fell on top of it during a crash Thursday afternoon.
The driver of a blue SUV told emergency workers that his brakes failed. He plowed into a white van then hit a power pole near Northern and 19th avenues at approximately 3 p.m.
Aerial video showed the blue van on its side. The driver was trapped inside after power lines fell on his vehicle and two others.
The other two drivers were able to get out on their own.
Crews secured the area and notified Salt River Project to shut off the electricity.
Phoenix fire Capt. Scott Walker said firefighters removed the front windshield and freed the 47-year-old man. He was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
