SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Pollack family is asking for the public’s help finding the person who was behind the wheel of the pickup truck that hit and killed their son over the weekend, and they’re offering a $50,000 reward for information.
Daniel Pollack, 31, was standing in the median on Hayden Road just north of Thomas Road when a truck and hit and killed him at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Witnesses said the driver of that truck never stopped.
Pollack is the son of Michael Pollack, a well-known Valley businessman, real-estate developer and philanthropist. Pollack worked with his father, handling leasing and development on dozens of properties for Michael A. Pollack International Management Incorporated. He was a vice president and the designated broker for the company's Arizona office.
Investigators have not said why Pollack was standing in the median about 450 feet away from the crosswalk. All they know for certain is that a silver pickup truck, possibly a Chevy Silverado, hit him and then kept right on going. Witnesses last saw that truck going south on Hayden Road.
At this point, police do not have any information about who was driving that pickup.
Detectives are asking anyone who knows anything about the deadly hit-and-run to contact the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000 or Silent Witness at either 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO.
A reward of up to $52,500 is being offered for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the person or people responsible for the hit-and-run. The Pollack family contributed $50,000 and Silent Witness put up $2,500.
Michael Pollack released the following statement on Tuesday: “My family and I thank Scottsdale Police and Silent Witness for their assistance. We hope this reward fund will help authorities find whoever is responsible for this tragedy."
