PHOENIX – Phoenix police have released a photo of a getaway vehicle captured after a dog was stabbed during a burglary last month.
Police said burglars stabbed a 3-year-old shih tzu with a samurai sword at a home near 59th Avenue and Dobbins Road on Jan. 22.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the dog was in its kennel at the time and did not pose a threat to the intruders.
The family took the dog to a veterinarian, but it had to be put down.
Police said holes were punched in the walls and liquids from the refrigerator were thrown about the house during the burglary. Electronic equipment and clothes were stolen.
Sgt. Steve Martos said a neighbor had surveillance cameras and reviewed the video after the incident. The getaway vehicle was captured on the video.
The vehicle is described as a 1997-2003 silver or gray Ford F150 with a white toolbox.
