PHOENIX -- Police were called out to a home in the area of 35th and Southern avenues after a man called 911 saying his roommate had been shot.
The initial call came in shortly before 1:30 Monday morning. The man said he heard three or four gunshots and when he went outside to check it out, he found his roommate.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered a woman lying on the porch. Police have identified as Destiny Simpson. She was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.
Police have not released any information about Simpson, 35, or about the man who called 911.
Investigators were still on the scene throughout the morning trying to piece together exactly what happened.
