MESA, Ariz. -- Police are investigating a shooting outside a Mesa nail salon in which a former employee allegedly shot a current employee.

Police said 36-year-old Dan Nguyen Tran, of Mesa, went to the Elite Nails salon on Power Road south of McKellips Road shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, possibly to pickup a paycheck.

He reportedly had resigned from his position at the nail salon.

Police said Tran began talking to an employee outside the salon about leaving the workplace. Tran then allegedly shot the 28-year-old man, who was transported to a hospital in stable condition. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Tran was booked into jail on suspicion of one count of aggravated assault, three counts of disorderly conduct with a weapon, and one count of reckless discharge of a weapon.

Police had not identified a motive Saturday night.

"(There are) several witnesses that we're trying to talk to and find out more about what the relationship might have been between these two and what the bad blood would have been to cause this shooting," Mesa police spokesman Det. Steve Berry said.
