PHOENIX -- Two men suspected of robbing a jewelry store and shooting at Phoenix police officers are behind bars.

Police said two men robbed a jewelry store near 44th Street and Thomas Road Friday afternoon. One of the suspects became locked inside the store and had to shoot his way out through a window.

The suspects fled to nearby State Route 51 and shot at pursuing officers, hitting at a police car.

Police said the fleeing vehicle got on the Loop 202 freeway and eluded officers.

Jonathan Corrales, 23, was arrested on Wednesday.

"This particular individual leaned out of his passenger-side car door and began shooting at officers who were pursuing them," said Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos.

Corrales is facing charges including aggravated assault, armed robbery and attempted second-degree murder.

Martos said Corrales has an extensive criminal history.

Police arrested the other suspect, Adan Orduno, 25, Friday night in an apartment complex near Van Buren and 36th streets. Police believe he was driving the getaway car.
