PHOENIX -- A 16-year-old girl crashed an SUV into a central Phoenix home after allegedly fleeing another collision nearby, according to police.
Michelle and Keith Anderson said they were hanging out in the living room of their home near Eighth Avenue and Thomas Road shortly after 3 p.m. They suddenly heard a loud "pop," and saw their brick walls crumble and dust fill the air.
Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said the teen fled eastbound after the first collision and then lost control while making a left turn. The SUV crashed into the front door of the home.
The Andersons were not injured, which they said might have been due to their sturdy metal security door. They said they were sitting on a couch about 3 feet away from the front door when the car crashed into it.
Keith Anderson said he has always been concerned about traffic since his home is on a corner.
Martos said the teen did not have a license.
The teen reportedly had scrapes and bruises but no life-threatening injuries.
