PHOENIX -- A man was struck and killed by a car in Phoenix Friday night after apparently lying down in the street, police said.
About 9:30 p.m., Justin John Wright, 40, crossed Camelback Road, just west of Interstate 17. He then lied down in the eastbound left turn lanes, police said.
A westbound vehicle stopped but an eastbound 2002 Nissan Altima struck the man, police said.
He was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police said Saturday morning they were not sure why the man was lying in the street.
The driver of the Nissan, a 19-year-old man, was not impaired, police said.
He and his 17-year-old female passenger were not injured.
