PHOENIX -- On Saturday the United States Marshals Service, District of Arizona, will be auctioning off several vehicles forfeited to the United States Government.
The auction is set to take place at Apple Towing in Guadalupe at 9 a.m. The public will be able to view the items up for auction on Friday at Apple Towing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The Department of Justice Asset Forfeiture Program is assisted by the United States Marshals Service, which manages and disposes $4.4 billion worth of assets that are seized and forfeited by federal law enforcement agencies.
The program has been an effective tool in fighting crime by stripping criminals of their illegally obtained possessions.
“Proceeds generated from asset sales are used to fund victim restitution, supplement funding for federal law enforcement initiatives, and are often shared with our state and local law enforcement partners,” said U.S. Marshal David Gonzales.
