PHOENIX – Phoenix police have arrested a man who allegedly broke into a home and sexually assaulted a woman while she and her boyfriend were in bed.

Conrado Lopez-Moreno, 36, was booked on aggravated assault, sexual assault and first-degree burglary charges.

Lopez-Moreno is accused of sexually assaulting a 27-year-old woman at her home near Glendale and 35th avenues on Jan. 5.

Police said the woman woke up in her bedroom at approximately 3 a.m. with the suspect sexually assaulting her. He was armed with a knife.

The victim's boyfriend was sleeping in the same bed and pulled the suspect off the victim. During a struggle, the suspect broke free and fled the residence.

Police spokesman Officer James Holmes said several items had been removed from the house and placed in an alleyway.

Evidence collected and submitted to the Phoenix Police Crime Lab identified Lopez-Moreno as a suspect. Holmes said Lopez-Moreno was known as a local transient.

Detectives located and arrested him on Sunday.
