PHOENIX -- A Phoenix man who pleaded guilty to child abuse and attempted child abuse was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison and lifetime probation.

Taylor Jose Basilio was arrested in January 2012 after doctors discovered that his 7-week-old son had several broken bones and a fractured skull.

Basilio and his wife had brought the baby to a pediatrician to receive a flu shot because he had a stuffy nose. The doctor noticed that the boy was underweight and had him further evaluated at a hospital. That's when the injuries were discovered.

X-rays showed several rib fractures, a broken clavicle, fractures to both legs and two skull fractures.

According to court documents, Basilio admitted to doctors that he had shaken the baby.

During his initial interview with police, Basilio asked about getting counseling for his anger issues, calling himself an "angry man" who gets "frustrated often."
