PHOENIX (AP) -- A Phoenix man accused of sexually abusing his girlfriend's two young daughters late last year has pleaded guilty in the case.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 33-year-old Luis Mejia Ortiz pleaded guilty Thursday to child molestation and three counts of attempted child molestation.
He's scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 2.
Authorities say Ortiz was arrested for allegedly molesting his girlfriend's 5-year-old and 9-year-old daughters between September and December.
Court records show the 9-year-old told both her mother and grandmother that Ortiz had touched her inappropriately in their home while her mother was at work.
Authorities say the mother then confronted Ortiz over the phone and he admitted wrongdoing.
Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies arrested Ortiz in Nogales on Dec. 28 before he could flee into Mexico.
