PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities have cited a Phoenix man after he accidentally started a 15-acre fire in northern Arizona.

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said Friday that the 62-year-old man received citations for reckless burning and violation of a fire ban by utilizing an open flame.

D'Evelyn says the fire started Thursday afternoon near the community of Hillside, about 40 miles west of Prescott.

The man told deputies an explosion occurred in his camping stove and then he inadvertently knocked it to the ground.

D'Evelyn says the man called authorities after the blaze quickly spread and stayed at the scene.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire and no structures or homes were damaged.

D'Evelyn did not release the man's identity.

No criminal charges are expected.
