PHOENIX -- If you feel a little dirty living in the Valley, you’re apparently not alone.

Travel and Leisure magazine has released their list of America’s Dirtiest Cities, and the Phoenix metropolitan area checks in at number 19.

The publication notes that the Valley’s air quality detracts from the quality of life, as Phoenix came in at number seven on the American Lung Association’s list of the most air-polluted cities.

Travel and Leisure also suggests that the poor air quality might be having an effect on the morale of Valley residents. Phoenix came in last on their list of the cities with the most civic pride.

Topping the list of America’s Dirtiest Cities is New York City. Travel and Leisure points out that the Big Apple’s pollution extends beyond just trash, as it’s also the rudest and loudest city in the country.

Rounding out the top five on this year’s list of the dirties cities are New Orleans, Baltimore, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.
