PHOENIX (AP) -- A Phoenix man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors said Tuesday that 28-year-old Darrell Lee Mayo was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Phoenix after being convicted by a federal jury in March.

The case stemmed from an undercover operation conducted at a secondhand shop west of Phoenix.

Mayo was accused of selling seven firearms to undercover agents and officers on five separate occasions between November 2010 and January 2011.

He was prohibited from possessing firearms due to his prior felony convictions for aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons, money laundering and assisting a criminal street gang.
