PHOENIX -- A Phoenix businessman accused of plotting to kill his wife is now facing more criminal charges from behind bars.

Homicide detectives arrested multimillionaire Fred B. Knadler, 75, in January 2012 after he allegedly conspired with and paid one of his employees to kill his wife, according to Sgt. Steve Martos with the Phoenix Police Department.

Knadler allegedly wanted the employee to dig a hole in the desert to bury his wife's body and dispose of her vehicle.

Police said Knadler, owner of Arizona Shower Door Inc., was involved in a contentious divorce and wanted to avoid losing millions of dollars.

Knadler is facing more charges after new evidence emerged that he tried to find someone to kill witnesses in the conspiracy case.

Martos said an undercover Phoenix police detective met with Knadler, who then offered to pay $10,000 to have a 66-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man killed.

Knadler was indicted on two additional counts of conspiracy to commit murder. He remains in custody and is being held on a cash bond.
