PHOENIX -- Phoenix Police arrested a man Wednesday night after he allegedly tried to have sexual contact with two young girls.

According to police, a 10-year-old was playing in an apartment courtyard in the area of 2600 N. 36th Street when Pedro Lopez-Marroquin told the girl he would give her money for “something.”

Lopez-Marroquin, 38, reportedly held up a $100 bill, but the girl ignored him. Lopez-Marroquin then grabbed the girl by the arm, but she pulled away.

Lopez-Marroquin proceeded to approach a 13-year-old girl who was in the area and told her that she should go back to his apartment for sex. He also showed the girl a $100 bill.

Both girls told their family about the alleged incidents, and Lopez-Marroquin was confronted by family members.

Lopez-Marroquin fled the scene, but was apprehended by officers who were responding to the area.

Police said Lopez-Marroquin eventually admitted to trying to have sex with the girls.

He was subsequently booked into the Maricopa County Jail on charges of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and aggravated assault. He also had a felony warrant for drug charges.
