PHOENIX -- A Peoria teenager accused of conspiring with his mother and others to kill his father was sentenced Tuesday to 22 years in prison and three years of probation.

Steven Gibson Jr., 17, pleaded guilty in July to attempted second-degree murder and hindering prosecution.

He was charged as an adult in the case.

Gibson was arrested after his father was found dead in the garage of the family's home in March 2013.

Peoria police said Steven Gibson Sr. had been beaten with a baseball bat, stabbed several times in the chest and his throat was slit.
