PEORIA, Ariz. -- Three children and three adults were transported to local hospitals after a school bus was involved in a crash in Peoria Monday morning.
The collision happened on the off-ramp at northbound Loop 101 and Olive Avenue.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the Sun Valley Elementary School bus rear-ended a pickup truck and that vehicle hit a car in front of it.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves said the bus driver had difficulty with the brakes and was not able to stop the bus.
Approximately 30 children were on the bus at the time of the crash.
Three students were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Paramedics evaluated the other children at the scene, but reported injuries were mainly bumps and bruises.
The uninjured students were put on a different bus and will be transported to school. Parents were asked to go to the school rather than the scene.
The three drivers were transported to a local hospital, but their injuries are not life-threatening.
Sun Valley Elementary School, which is in the Peoria Unified School District, is located about half a mile south of the accident scene.
