PEORIA, Ariz. -- A Peoria man is happy after a quick find of his not-so-quick companion.
Rich Legere found his missing 70-pound sulcata tortoise about a mile and a half from his house.
Army was missing for six days. Legere wondered if his beloved tortoise had been stolen after finding the gate unlatched last week.
Then, Legere got a phone call Wednesday night from someone who found a tortoise and thought it might be his.
"When we got there, he came right over to me," Legere said. "He was happy to get out of there."
Legere doesn't know who took Army or why, but he is thrilled to have him home and figures karma will come around at some point.
Army has been part of Legere's family for the past 12 years.
