PHOENIX – A pedestrian is in serious condition after being struck by a car in Phoenix.

Luis Samudio, with the Phoenix Police Department, says the pedestrian was crossing the street at 48th Street and Southern when the victim was struck by a driver who initially left the scene.

The pedestrian was reportedly about 30 to 40 feet away from a crosswalk.

The driver, identified as Shannon Green, reportedly called police about an hour after the incident and turned herself in at the scene.

Green was booked and charged for leaving the scene of an accident and for driving on a suspended driver’s license.

Further information on the pedestrian has not been released.
