PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision Friday night.
Benjamin Michael Snethen, 34, was found in the roadway near 31st and Grand avenues shortly before 8 p.m.
Police said it appeared he was struck by a vehicle, and he was pronounced dead by Phoenix fire personnel.
Police have not yet found any witnesses but plan to contact as many people as possible in a nearby apartment complex.
Investigators are also getting in touch with Santa Fe Railway Company, which owns the railroad tracks near the scene, to see if the company has any surveillance cameras in the area.
Many railroad companies have their own police departments, which work with local agencies in their investigations.
However, detectives are uncertain if the collision actually occurred where Snethen's body was found.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO (for Spanish).
