PHOENIX (AP) -- The parents of two Phoenix children found severely malnourished last summer have been arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse.
Authorities say 22-year-old Lourdes Frausto and her 24-year-old boyfriend, Erinn Bruer, were taken into custody Friday.
It's unclear if either has a lawyer yet.
Bruer is the biological father of both children.
The then 22-month-old boy and 3-year-old girl were taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital on Aug. 28 after state Child Protective Services workers found the two children weak and malnourished.
Authorities say the boy weighed less than 15 pounds and was 27 inches tall.
They say the girl weighed 26 pounds and was in the 38th percentile for height in her age group.
