GLENDALE, Ariz. -- If you are looking to remodel or redecorate, the Maricopa County Home & Garden Show is the place to be this weekend.
Hundreds of vendors provide shoppers with tips, demonstrations and products to remodel any and every room in their home.
Guests can watch demonstrations by Debbie Hernandez, the Home Depot “How To” expert, throughout the weekend and gain some advice on home improvement topics with “Rosie on the House”.
“We do a lot of special features at this show,” said Home Show manager Katie Jones.
The special features are one of the reasons the show has become such a huge success. Jones said they expect between 25,000 to 30,000 people.
Aside from the DIY demonstrations and other products and services offered at the show, guests can enjoy wine tastings and even a chance to be on “Wheel of Fortune”.
“A lot of times the Wheel Mobile is a standalone event,” said David Strathearn, the director of marketing and promotions for “Wheel of Fortune”. “This time we’re attached to a little bit larger event which also has its merits…they’ll have a good ‘Wheel of Fortune’ experience and a good home and garden experience.”
Strathearn says it’s all about stage presence and attitude for those wanting to be on the show.
“It’s supposed to be fun so we’re just looking for those fun, energetic, enthusiastic contestants.”
The Home & Garden show is also working with Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC), their March home show benefactor.
A “Mutt Strut” fashion show will feature dogs big and small that are looking for a home. Pets three months and older are $17 and cats are free.
Attendees can also get a free ticket into the show by donating any shelter-related items to MCACC.
The show will be at the University of Phoenix Stadium until Sunday March 3.
Adult admission is $5. Children 3-12 are $2. Admission is free for children 2 and under.
