MARICOPA, Ariz. – Maricopa police are searching for a suspect in a double stabbing near a park earlier this month.

Police said the suspect was involved in an altercation with the two victims over an unleashed dog in Jane Askew Park, which is in the area of John Wayne Parkway and Smith Enke Road, on the morning of July 11.

During the altercation, the suspect displayed a sharp-edged weapon, possibly a small knife or box cutter, and stabbed both victims in the upper abdomen, according to police.

The suspect then fled the scene on roller blades, heading northeast on Rancho El Dorado Parkway.

The suspect is described as a white male, 40 to 50 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 160 to 170 pounds with a medium build and a ruddy complexion. He was unshaven with slight facial hair, a mustache/goatee, salt-and-pepper unkempt, shaggy collar-length hair and wire-framed clear prescription glasses.

He was last seen wearing a light gray ball cap, a Levi's-style dark denim jacket, white or gray T-shirt under the jacket, gray shorts and black roller blades.

Police are hoping the person in the sketches will come forward and give a statement on the incident.

Anyone with information about the case or the person in the sketches is asked to call the MPD tip line at 520-316-6900 or detectives at 480-528-1612.
