PHOENIX -- Phoenix police arrested a woman for allegedly leaving her three children alone in her apartment while she went out to drink.

Police were called to an apartment complex near Dunlap and 11th avenues at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday and found Angie Masuda's children, ages 5, 6 and 8, without adult supervision, according to court documents.

The kids had been home alone for about 35 minutes before officers arrived. They waited with the children until Masuda returned about 45 minutes later.

Masuda told the officers that she had gone to her friend's house to drink.

Masuda said she did not have a sitter for her kids but had asked a neighbor to check on them.

Neighbors told police that they didn't agree to check on the children and said Masuda "always leaves them home alone," according to the court papers.

Masuda was arrested on three counts of child abuse and booked into Fourth Avenue Jail.

The children were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.
