FLORENCE, Ariz. -- Deputies with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office have introduced a new technology that will help them fight crime.
A new attachment that works with the iPhone allows deputies to take a photo of someone’s face, scan their iris, and take fingerprints.
The attachment will then wirelessly beam the data collected to law enforcement databases to help deputies identify suspects.
“We’re going to be able to better identify who it is we’re dealing with,” said Sheriff Paul Babeu.
Babeu also acknowledged privacy concerns. He explained that the new technology will allow deputies to protect citizens without compromising their civil rights.
