ARIZONA CITY, Ariz. -- An Arizona City man is accused of fatally shooting his longtime friend during an argument at a Super Bowl party.
Damian McDowell, 34, was arrested Sunday night and charged with first-degree murder.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, Walter Williams, 34, of Fresno, Calif., and his girlfriend were watching the game at McDowell's home with several other people when the two friends began arguing.
PCSO spokesman Elias Johnson said the argument was not related to the game.
McDowell reportedly grabbed a handgun from a back bedroom and shot Williams in the neck.
McDowell stated, "I'm going to jail," and fled the scene with the weapon, according to the sheriff's office. He later returned home and was placed under arrest.
