PHOENIX -- An Ozone Advisory, essentially a warning, has been issued for metro Phoenix on Wednesday. Air quality forecasters expect ozone to be in the unhealthful range by the afternoon hours.
It’s also going to be a hot day, with forecast highs around 110 tomorrow. After that, temperatures will begin to moderate as we get a bit more moisture into the state. Slowly but surely, we think we’ll see an increase in thunderstorms by the weekend and by Sunday we have a 30 percent chance for storms, especially late in the day.
111 was the high on Tuesday. We didn't set a record, but Tuesday marked our 6th straight day of 110 or more. The Excessive Heat Warning continues through Wednesday evening at 8pm.
So far this year we’ve recorded 21 days with 110 degrees or more for a high. We’re slightly ahead of the average pace for such things. Also, we’ve had 14 days where the low has been 90 degrees or higher. That’s more than in an average summer.
