PHOENIX -- Many people dread going to the emergency room, because the last thing they want is to be sick and wait hours to get treatment. But some new technology can help reduce your wait time, and hospitals and doctors are on board with the new systems.

"Usually it's a long line. You know, you wait for a long time whether it's that important or not," said Sean Kane.

"People hate waiting rooms. People hate seeing their local doctors,” said John Hawkins.

That’s where emergency room check-in websites come in. And they're as close as your cell phone or computer.

"Patients can wait at home and it'll give them essentially an appointment time, and they can come in and they will let the screener nurse in the front know that they've registered through InQuicker,” said Dr. Ann Burns, the medical director of St. Joseph's emergency room. "And it basically puts them almost at the top of the list of the patients waiting in the waiting room."

The website InQuicker shows you the participating hospitals, urgent cares, even the doctors that you can register with to cut your wait time.

"I personally hate waiting because if you’re sick and not feeling well, you want to get treatment right away,” said Hawkins.

Dr. Burns said the hospital has been using it for about a year, but not too many people know about it.

Not every hospital in the Valley uses InQuicker.

Some use their own version, and now there are even Skype visits available with some Urgent Care companies.

Here are some of the services you can use to check in to emergency rooms, urgent cares and physician visits:
