FLORENCE -- An investigation into a possible animal cruelty case has Pinal County Animal Care and Control officials looking for leads.

According to Heather Murphy, a Pinal County Animal Care and Control spokeswoman, officers found a 3-month-old puppy with an expletive written with marker in her fur and three large, tumor-like lumps that appear to have been caused by trauma.

Murphy said officers found the dog near Skyline and Camino Largo in San Tan Valley after they responded to a stray animal call on Thursday, Feb. 4.

"She’s a very loving dog who appears to have suffered from neglect or abuse,” said Ruth Stalter, Director of Pinal County Animal Care and Control, in a press release. “If she is determined to be healthy, she will be put up for public adoption.”

Officers ask anyone with information about the dog or her owners to call 520-866-7618.

What a shame. That is just the most adorable puppy. I don't can never understand what goes through peoples heads to make them do these things to animals. I can only hope they find the S>O>B> that left her like that and give them the same lumps and subject them to the trauma this puppy suffered.

On Friday, 5 Feb 2010, as I am working I came across three dogs, and one was a baby, She is about three months old. She almost became a meal to another dog. I love animals, it shows. I named her Samtha, today went to the dog park. She is going to a new home on Monday, and if I saw a dog like her or the story above, I would do my best to protect any of them. Samatha is going to a friend who owns their own business, and I will get to see her play and be a cute young lady. This little girl above I hope her the best, and the little that I found, she will be happy. My heart will hurt, but I live an apt. not a best place for a dog. My male cat Samual has been a big help, on playing and hanging out with her. But I wish i found this little girl as well. Who in the right mind wants to hurt these animals. Helene

This makes me sick! The cowards who do these things to animals should be given the death penalty! I would GLADLY pull the switch!!
