TEMPE, Ariz. -- A 31-year-old woman was wounded in an officer-involved shooting Monday night in Tempe.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. near McClintock and University drives.

Police said they were following Alyce Garcia, who was wanted on a felony warrant for a probation violation.

They found her near 44th Street and Thomas Road in Phoenix, and followed her to the Gateway Apartments, just east of the Arizona State University campus.

Officers said when they cornered her in a parking lot, she remained in the driver's seat but pulled out a handgun as they approached.

At least one officer opened fire. Students reported hearing between three and seven gunshots.

Police said that while Garcia threatened officers with the gun, she did not pull the trigger.

Both Tempe and Phoenix police officers responded to the scene.

No officers were injured.

Garcia is still in the hospital being treated for her injuries.
