VILLAGE OF OAK CREEK, Ariz. – The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to locate a man who exposed himself to a group of women and girls hiking near Oak Creek on Sept. 28.
The three adults and eight juveniles were hiking along the Baldwin Trail, which heads east from Verde Valley School Road toward Cathedral Rock and along Oak Creek, when they saw a naked man standing in the creek with his back toward them and water to his knees.
When the man saw the group, he turned toward them while jumping up and down in an obvious attempt to get the group's attention, according to sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn.
The group left the area but later saw the man, still completely nude, walking near the trail. They said the man again made an effort to expose himself to the kids by jumping out of concealment into an open area and then running out of sight.
D'Evelyn said some of the children indicated the suspect made eye contact and was smiling. One of the adults told the man to put some clothes on and he ignored her as he ran away.
The suspect is described as white, approximately 6 feet tall, mid- to late 20s with brown hair just about long enough to tuck behind his ears.
Deputies searched the area for a suspect, but no one was located matching his description.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call 928-771-3260 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232 to remain anonymous.
