PHOENIX – The mother of a 3-year-old girl allegedly beaten to death by her stepfather has pleaded guilty to child abuse.
Ambreatte Daniels, 25, entered her plea in court Friday morning. Her next court date is a status conference on Nov. 21.
Investigators said Daniels knew her husband was physically abusing her daughter.
She was arrested in November 2011 after police said they found pictures of the girl's injuries on her cellphone. The dates of the pictures ranged from Sept. 3 to Oct. 13, 2011.
Corey Daniels, 24, faces a murder charge in the child's death.
Detectives learned that Daniels was taking care of the child while her mother was at work on Oct. 27, 2011. Police said he beat Dani Mayo for not eating her dinner and talking back to him.
The toddler suffered multiple skull fractures, bruises, retinal hemorrhages, and bleeding and swelling in the brain. She died a short time later.
