PHOENIX -- A Valley teen who asked Miley Cyrus to prom in a viral YouTube video was turned down by the pop star via Twitter.
Cyrus tweeted to Arcadia High School student Matt Peterson on Saturday, "I don't think I'll be able to make it to prom but why don't you come to my AZ show and hang with me? Don't forget a corsage."
In the YouTube video, published Jan. 31, Peterson sports a "Team Miley" T-shirt and recounts his tearful meeting with her on a Valley radio show in 2009.
He then shows a video of Cyrus giving him a shout-out at her concert in the Valley six months later.
Finally, holding a bouquet of roses and sporting only a foam finger, Peterson asks the singer to join him at his May 3 prom.
"I've been obsessed with her my whole life," Peterson told 3TV's Yetta Gibson after the video went viral.
He has racked up more than 425,000 views on the video and got Cyrus' attention on Twitter using the hashtag, "#mileyprom."
Peterson responded to her tweet Saturday, saying it was the best day of his life and he needs a special tuxedo made for the occasion.
He was already planning to attend the Feb. 27 concert, part of Cyrus' "Bangerz Tour," at the U.S. Airways Center.
